For most non-complicated musculoskeletal complaints the letter of referral can be very brief.
In all cases referred by letter from a GP, Dr Cameron will write back to the GP giving details of his opinion and of any treatments given.
Most private medical insurance companies will insist that the patient is referred to Dr Cameron by a GP before accepting any claims for reimbursement of fees.

Referrals from other colleagues
Dr Cameron often receives referrals from other medical professionals such as physiotherapists, osteopaths or chiropractors.
This is perfectly acceptable but in complex cases it may be necessary to contact the patient's GP to obtain specific details of relevant past medical history or medication. This will only happen with the patient's consent and only after an initial consultation.

It is Doctor Cameron's normal practice to write a letter back to both the referring therapist and to the patient's GP after treatment or assessment but wont do this if the patient specifically asks him not to

Self Referrals
People sometimes contact Dr Cameron directly by email or by phone to ask for an appointment without any referral being made by a doctor or therapist.
Dr Cameron prefers to receive a letter of referral and may suggest to patients who contact him directly that they approach their GP in the first instance. If this is not possible and the patient is suffering from a non-complex muscle or joint problem then an appointment will be offered to assess the situation.
